At just 595 grams, the S-Works Aethos 2 is the lightest production road frame in the world. Aethos began with a moment of human insight: frames “breath” under load. That subtle rhythm revealed how force moved. This was fed into the supercomputer, evolving tubes into sculpted forms. The shape itself delivered stiffness, resulting in UCI illegal 5.9kg builds and more responsiveness. The result was not just a more perfect ride, it was a new way of making bikes—Flow State Design.
Flow State Design is where Specialized Science Club meets machine intelligence. Lighter than the water bottle in your cage thanks to the most optimized layup ever, Aethos redefined how bikes are built. Crux and Tarmac SL8 followed its lead. Regardless of the bike’s size, every rider gets the famed Aethos ride quality.
The fit and geometry were refined using data from over 100,000 Body Geometry fits to make long days in the mountains feel even better. You get precise handling in a more versatile and confidence-inspiring package, allowing you to climb faster, descend harder, and ride longer.
The stack was increased by 15mm to help take pressure off your hands, neck, and shoulders. A 7mm longer wheelbase provides confidence to push the pace on descents. A 0.5° slacker headtube creates nimble but intuitive handling. With a 3mm lower BB height, the frame is optimized for higher volume road tires and a more connected feeling to the bike and road.
Aethos 2 clears 35 mm tires with ease. That means smoother, faster rides, more grip, and more roads. This upgrade was achieved without compromise, as every detail was re-engineered. No gram was safe from the Specialized Science Club’s obsession.
